The Samphire Quilters group, in Lynn, took part in the chairman’s challenge at their Red Cross Hall base on Monday.

The Chairman’s Challenge this year was entitled ‘in the red’ and members had to make something from a 4in square of red fabric.

Treasurer Helen Mace’s design won first prize, with Jane Chapman second and Jane Moffat third.

The group, who hope to hold their annual exhibition back at St Nicholas’ Chapel next year, are now having a summer break before reconvening on Monday, September 14.

Colourful patchwork quilts and other upcycled needlecraft have brought a blaze of colour to the group, which now has 54 members. New members, either beginners or experienced, are always welcome.
