Next meeting of the King’s Lynn Music Society is being held on Wednesday, January 21, at Lynn Town Hall, starting at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm).

Visitors are welcome and admission is £8.50 at the door, free to under 18s, full time students and those with affiliation to FRMS.

The guest speaker, Sandy Burnett, will give an illustrated talk “Music of the Classical Era” with particular reference to the work of two great Viennese masters, Haydn and Mozart.

Mr Burnett is one of the UK’s most authoritative broadcasters in the field of classical music.

An extended spell with BBC Radio 3, 1994 till 2007, saw him established as one of the network’s most familiar presenters, admired by many classical music lovers, with the exception of Gerald Kaufman.

His many credits include the flagship breakfast programme Morning on 3, live Proms, concerts from the Edinburgh International Festival and countless studio broadcasts and interviews.

Invited to play at the TEDx conference in Wales he brought his double bass and explored music and creativity in an interactive talk entitled “Embrace Mistakes”.

He has hosted and lecturedat events at the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the London Jazz Festival.

On screen, Sandy has hosted live and recorded webcasts for Russia Today, Plushmusic and Wigmore Hall; he speaks fluent French and German.

As a lecturer for Martin Randall Travel, Kirker and ACE Cultural Tours, he has taken tour groups to many European festivals; his 2011 Bachfest tour earned a 100per cent approval rating.
