Downham Young Farmers have raised a fantastic £3,100 for two charities after record numbers supported a charity clay pigeon shoot.

More than 200 people went along to the Stradsett Estate to support the Young Farmers fundraiser, which supported Reach for a Star and Home Start in Lynn and West Norfolk.

Club chairman Michael Waters said: “We had a record number of entries on the day which helped to raise a large amount of money for the charities.

“It was good to see so many clubs from across Norfolk to come along and support us. We’re very grateful.”

Results were: 40 bird sporting: A Preston with 39; John Newman, 38;shoot off between Gareth Maund and Alan Standridge both with 37. Downham Market 40 bird sporting: Adam Berryman 29; another shoot off with Ben Chapman taking second and Tom Melton third. County 40 bird sporting results: Darren Moore, Dereham; Justin Moore, Wymondham; Robert Hirst, Acle; Adam Melton, Terrington.

The club’s next event will be the dinner and dance on May 31.
