Achieving outstanding A-level results gave a Roydon teenager more than just a bright future. It also meant he had the opportunity to meet the Queen.
Fergus Pateman, 18, of Lynn’s Springwood High School was invited to attend church at Sandringham on Sunday to be presented with the Queen’s prize, with a signed Bible. Fergus, who was joined by proud mum Vanessa Pateman and headteacher Andy Johnson, said he spent around 15 minutes chatting to the Queen. He said: “We talked about what I would like to do with my future and I said I would like to be a sound technician one day. She was very relaxed and a very nice person. I almost forgot she was the Queen when we having a conversation.” Fergus is pictured with his mother and the Queen’s prize. MLNF15AF01006
