A Runcton Holme man has denied causing the death of a police officer by dangerous driving.

Danny Warby, 27, of School Road, Runcton Holme, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court this morning (Thursday, September 17) charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Det Con Sharon Garrett, who was 48 and a member of the Cambridgeshire Police economic crime unit, died from injuries sustained in a five-vehicle crash on the A141 at Wyton, near Huntingdon on Friday, June 6.

She joined Cambridgeshire Constabulary in 1991 and served in a number of roles across the force, most recently investigating complex fraud offences in the Economic Crime Unit.

Warby entered a not guilty plea today.

A further case management hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, at Peterborough Crown Court, with an anticipated trial date set for Monday, December 7, at the same court.
