Pelicans under 12 Girls travelled to Dereham last Sunday for the annual Alex Hill Memorial tournament, their last one of the 2014-15 season.

In the pouring rain, the girls battled hard and at times defended frantically. Anna Wood, making her debut for the club, worked hard both as a forward and defence.

Florrie MacFarlane made her return to the side and made some crucial tackles and clearances. Izzy Pope, despite not being 100 per cent fit, still managed the only two goals of the tournament with some excellent stick work.

Poppy Beales made numerous solo runs and was also involved in some fine passing with Mia Moore and Izzy Pope (all hitting the post at different times). Pelicans won several short corners but in this tournament the girls failed to convert.

Hannah Stoutt and Emily Pluck worked tirelessly in defence. Lucy Sagrott made critical saves in all four games. Kate Willis, playing her second tournament, showed promise.

Manager’s player of the tournament: Hannah Stoutt.

At the recent Junior Awards day Lucy Sagrott was awarded Manager’s Player of the Season, Hannah Stoutt was awarded most improved player and Emily Pluck was voted most humorous player.

On behalf of Pelicans Hockey Club Jane Moore (manager) would like to thank all the girls for their continued commitment, and their parents.
