A Lynn food factory is hoping to get the green light to extend its current factory.

Mars Foods has submitted plans to West Norfolk Council add a single storey extension on to its main building in Hansa Road.

The new building, which could be constructed on an area previously used to house potato silos, will act as a distribution centre along with other associated site works.

The application’s design and access statement says: “The purpose of the proposed new structure is to house a new distribution area for the food produced in the main facilities.

“The proposed new extension is located at the end of the process production lines inside the building, and will allow the rationalisation of the product flow.

“The building will be of steel framed construction with profiled metal cladding to the walls and roof to match other existing profiled metal cladding on site.

“The new building will measure approximately 46.5 metres x 55 metres on plan, which will be appended to the east of the existing main building

“The extension will be of a braced steel framed design with profiled metal cladding to the walls and roof, which will match the height of the existing building.”
