Plans have been submitted to build homes and a shop on the Lynn News car park.

Site owners, Norfolk County Council, wants to construct a retail unit along with four flats on the Purfleet Street car park in Lynn.

The application, which has been lodged with West Norfolk Council, requests two one bedroom flats along with a pair of two bedroom flats. An earlier application to build on the site was refused.

The planning statement says: “The proposed retail use would contribute to the retail provision on Purfleet Street, create public benefit with new jobs and provide an active street frontage which would strengthen the local economic well-being.

“The ground floor will have red brick piers (and a glazed shop front) which will relate to the materials of the neighbouring properties and will be slightly set back from the neighbouring buildings.”

Plans have also been submitted to create an art gallery and flat within the empty building which stands next to the car park.
