A day school examining the history of slavery will be held in Swaffham this weekend.
The event has been organised by the town’s Workers Educational Association group and is taking place at the town’s community centre from 10am until 4pm this Saturday, July 2.
During the session, tutor Valerie Morse will explore the role of slavery in the sugar trade and how it funded Britain’s economic growth in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The day will also include talks on other issues, including the growth and ultimate success of the movement to abolish the trade.
Places on the course are £15 each and must be booked by phoning 01760 723558.
A buffet lunch will also be available during the day for a further £6.
