South Wootton actors Richard and Geraldine Coates have been in action again, this time in Cambridge filming for the second series of “Grantchester”.
The first series set in the 1950s proved a hit when it was broadcast by ITV last autumn and the second series is now in production, once again staring heart-throb James Norton as the sleuthing vicar Sidney Chambers and Robson Green as policeman Geordie Keating.
Richard and Geraldine were engaged as background artists in the second episode of the new series, but Richard was surprised to find that his character – The Professor – had one short scene all on his own.
Richard will not know until the episode is broadcast next year if his scene has made the final “cut”.
Our pictures show Richard having some 1950s Brylcream applied to his hair by one of the make-up artists before his scene was shot outside King’s College Chapel in Cambridge, and Geraldine Coates dressed in 1950s clothes as a passer-by, flanked by the two stars of the series, Robson Green and James Norton, during a break in filming.
