A young piano maker has been banned from driving after being caught behind the wheel while twice the limit.

Joshua Todd, 21, of Sluice Road, St Germans, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared in court in Lynn today.

The court heard he had been stopped by police in the Saturday Market Place at around 1.45am on March 20 and was found to have 70 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Solicitor Ian Graham said he had been out for a meal and had been intending to only have one or two drinks so that he could drive home.

He said: “He is very sorry for what he has done.”

Magistrates fined him £250 and banned him from driving for 18 months.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £25 victim surcharge, but will have the chance to reduce the length of his ban by completing a rehabilitation course.
