Long-serving volunteer Betty Curr was given the honour of officially opening the refurbished Hospital League of Friends shop at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Betty, 88, first started at the shop back in April, 1980, and still turns up for her weekly duty.

Helping her cut the tape is Lady Coke, the Friends’ president, and also pictured from left are the secretary Carol Crake, QEH chief executive Dorothy Hosein, the Friends’ chairman Pat Roome and Edward Libbey, chairman for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn Foundation Trust, together with other volunteers.

Mrs Crake said: “All the comments we have had about the new-look shop have been very favourable, especially from people in wheelchairs, as there is now so much more space than we had before.”
