Staples starts King’s Lynn triathlon season off with a bang

King’s Lynn Triathlon Club members got the season off to a great start this weekend.

Kyle Staples won a super sprint event at Glebe School in Hunstanton where he finished a 200m swim, 13km bike and 5k run in 51 minutes 36 seconds beating his dad Jamie by four minutes and six places. Mark Collins came home fourth in 54mins 53sec and Emma Cuthell came second for the women crossing the line in one hour 34s.

In Peterborough three of the club’s athletes battled an early morning chill in Monster Racing events. Jamie Sparrow took on the Mojo middle distance finishing the 1.9km swim, 82km bike and 20km run in 4 hours 35mins placing him 11th overall and earning him third in age group. Miles Thomas and Ian Kidman were testing their mettle in the shorter Mojito event of 1.5km swim, 38km bike and 10km run. Thomas finished in 2hrs 24 earning him third in age and Kidman in 2hrs 33 placing him fourth in age.
