Plans to set up a new Young Farmers club in Swaffham have been boosted by a £4,000 grant from Breckland Council.
The Norfolk Young Farmers organisation plans to use the money, along with a similar grant from the Clan Trust, to establish both a Young Farmers group for people aged 14 to 26 and a Countrysiders’ club for youngsters aged 10 to 16.
It is hoped both groups will open at the start of the summer term next month.
Lynda Turner, the council’s executive member for community and environmental services, said she was pleased to support the new clubs.
She said: “By providing fun, constructive and educational activities the clubs will help support and develop the next generation of countryside custodians.”
