A Swaffham fundraiser’s campaign to raise funds for research into pancreatic cancer has been boosted by a town community group.

Lions club members have presented £700, which was raised at their St George’s Day quiz, to Kay Wells for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund,

Miss Wells, pictured front accepting the cheque from club president Colin Mowles, has been supporting the charity since her mother, Florence, died from the disease in 2012.

Although pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all types of the disease, with only three per cent of those diagnosed surviving for more than five years, it only gets one per cent of national research funding.
