Lions, horses and even some superheroes were seen on the streets of Swaffham during a series of fancy dress races to mark Pancake day this week.

Dozens watched and nine teams took part in the event, which was organised by the town’s Lions and held in the Market Place on Tuesday.

The competitors raced each other over a short course while carrying a pan containing a pancake coloured on one side to show when it had been tossed, with the winners of each race progressing to the next stage.

The overall winners were Charlie’s Army, who received an engraved frying pan trophy after beating Ward Gethin Archer’s Legal Angels in the final.
