As officials from Swaffham’s Royal British Legion gear up for this weekend’s Remembrance Sunday events, members of a town charity group have been helping to collect funds for the Poppy Appeal.

Pam Tallon and Keith Mitchell of the town’s Lions club staffed a collection point in the Tesco store while other club members were on duty at two other sites.

Swaffham’s annual Remembrance service will take place this Sunday, beginning with a parade at 10.30am led by the Fakenham Town Band.

Wreaths will then be laid at the war memorial at 11am before the service in the St Peter and St Paul church.

A further commemoration will take place on Wednesday at 10.45am at the war memorial, which pupils from the Sacred Heart School are expected to attend.
