A team of students from the Sacred Heart School at Swaffham have been thanked for their help during a national conference staged in the town.

Students served as waiters during a banquet staged as part of the Walkers Are Welcome gathering in the town last October.

The town was among the first in East Anglia to sign up to the scheme, which aims to promote the area as a destination for walkers and tourists and develop improved facilities for walkers.

Iceni Partnership chairman Dennis Tallon presented certificates and £10 book tokens to five students during an assembly at the school.

Mr Tallon praised the students for their “professional, friendly attitude and smart appearance” during the banquet, which was held at the Assembly Rooms.

He added that he hoped the school and the partnership would work together on other projects in the future.
