Swaffham’s young sportsmen and women have benefited from £1,000 of support offered by a town supermarket.

Waitrose shared the money between the town’s football, cricket and rugby clubs through its Community Matters programme.

The chain held a Summer of Sport initiative to support community programmes.

And store manager Steve Graham said: “It’s really important to us to that we support the community in which we trade and the Community Matters scheme helps us to support causes that are at the heart of the community.

“I’m really pleased to have been able to support the good work of the town’s sports clubs.”

Anyone interested in nominating a group to be supported by the Community Matters scheme should email Martin Rutherford at 686.pcm@waitrose.co.uk or pick up a form in the store on Castle Acre Road.
