A charity which supports people still living with the effects of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster almost 30 years ago will benefit from a donation by customers of Swaffham’s Waitrose store.

Store officials have presented a cheque for £360 to Friends of Chernobyl’s Children (Breckland), which was donated through the store’s Community Matters programme.

Manager Steve Graham said: “It’s really important to us to that we support the community in which we trade and the Community Matters scheme helps us to support causes that are at the heart of the community.

“I’m really pleased to have been able to support the good work of Friends of Chernobyl’s Children (Breckland).”

The latest round of donations also included support for the Swaffham Escape project.
