Swaffham town councillors have objected to plans for a major new housing scheme in the town.
Developers Min (Land and Properties) Limited have submitted outline proposals for 185 new homes on Norwich Road.
But, during a special meeting last Wednesday afternoon, councillors voted to object to the scheme, which they claim is “economically unsustainable.”
The applicants maintain the scheme is needed and could be integrated into the existing landscape.
But the town council argues that it would make existing drainage problems worse and increase the risk for pedestrians in the area.
They have also urged Breckland Council to extend the 30 miles per hour speed limit on Norwich Road and improve footpaths in the area if the application is approved.
