Councillors and officials are set to hold talks with supermarket bosses this week in a bid to end congestion problems in the area around a major Lynn store.

Earlier this month, Tesco managers were urged to act to resolve traffic problems near its store on the Hardwick Retail Park.

And the owners of the park, UBS, are said to be “losing patience” over the access road to the park, which is owned by Tesco.

The store chain has proposed to reduce the height of a fence round a neighbouring site, which it says will help motorists to see more clearly before they leave the site.

But managers rejected suggestions that the problem was hitting neighbouring businesses, pointing out that a second exit point, via Campbells Meadow, was provided when the larger Tesco store was opened in 2013.

However, critics say many shoppers are still not aware of the alternative route.

A meeting is due to take place this Thursday at the site to examine the issue.
