A temporary mobile post office will begin operating in Narborough next week.
Officials say the move comes after the village’s post office closed earlier this month when the then postmaster resigned.
Post Office bosses have insisted they are seeking a solution to enable them to reinstate a permanent service.
However, in the meantime, a mobile post office van will be open to customers near the old site in Meadow Close on Friday mornings, between 8.30 and 11am, beginning next Friday, January 29.
Managers have indicated that the initial service may be extended.
Wendy Hamilton, Post Office field change advisor, said: “I know that the local community will join me in welcoming this good news and hope that customers will continue to use the branch.”
The company says nearby alternative branches include Marham and East Winch.
However, the Marham branch will also be closed today to enable improvement works to take place.
New and extended opening hours will then come into force, meaning the branch will be open until from 7am on weekdays and 8am at weekends until 9pm.
