Having recently very much enjoyed a performance of Sleeping Beauty presented by the excellent Lavender Hill Mob Theatre Company I notice, on a more serious note, a performance of the popular Puccini opera La Boheme, streamed from the Royal Opera live at 7.15pm, on June 10 and available to watch at the Majestic Cinema in Lynn and other cinemas throughout the country. You will be pleased to learn you can catch up with the show at a matinee performance starting at 2pm on June 14. I saw Rise and Fall of The City of Mahagony, also from Covent Garden, and though not to all tastes, I was greatly impressed with the quality of the transmission (especially as there had been power cuts at the Royal Opera House that night). Superb entertainment!
At least there are still a few days left to get to the Circus Wonderland on The Walks from now until this Sunday. There are performances today at 4.30pm and 7.30pm, tomorrow at 2pm and 5pm and Sunday just at 2pm. Tickets can be obtained in advance online by contacting : www.ticketline.co.uk or telephone the hotline: 07531 612240. If you look hard enough you may be lucky, as there are still money-off vouchers around and about the area.
There are plenty of organisations to join in the area if you wish to try something new and here are a couple that may be of interest. Another theatre company, which caters for everyone from age 7 regardless of ability or disability, is The Engaging Theatre Company meeting at The Community Centre, Providence Street, King’s Lynn, PE30 5ET every Thursday, 6-8pm.
