Norfolk Police held a training day for special constables on Saturday at the Construction Training Board at Bircham Newton where volunteers practised coping with anti-social behaviour.
Police colleagues volunteered to put the Specials through their crowd control paces, under the watchful eyes of Norfolk chief constable Simon Bailey and borough mayor Elizabeth Watson, who were among the guests. The special constabulary is staffed by people who give up their spare time to help police officers keep the community safe. They have the same powers as regular officers, wear a similar uniform, carry the same equipment and are fully trained for the role. Our picture shows training on ejecting drunks from a night club.
