Thornham Village Hall’s Soup and Sandwich lunch team of volunteers celebrated when they heard the news that they had been successful with the grant application to Norfolk Community Foundation’s Warm and Well fund for the second time. The project was awarded £1,745 to support the purchase of additional equipment and to help offset the costs of buying the food and essential items and costs needed to make the event work through the winter.
Hall chairman and grant co-ordinator, Colin Venes, said: ‘We now regularly have 80 people sitting down to eat and socialise together for three hours. They enjoy the raffle, a bring-and buy-table and the warmth and friendliness of the atmosphere in the hall, which of course they generate for themselves. The key element in the success is the work of our volunteer cooking team led by Carolyn Barrett and Sue Warham.”
