Thousands of bike fans descended on the Holkham estate at the weekend for the third annual Pedal Norfolk cycling festival.

Riders had the chance to take part in three road rides, covering a total of 250 miles, during the four day spectacular which opened last Friday.

And there was also a host of bike themed family activities, including riding challenges, BMX displays, plus the chance to explore the estate’s Woodland play area, enjoy a boat ride on the lake or take on a climbing wall.

Event director Peter Flett was delighted by the level of interest and said more than 3,000 cars travelled to the estate on the final day of the festival on Monday alone.

He said: “It was a lovely weekend. Visitor numbers were higher than expected even though the weather on Sunday was horrendous.

“The number of people with smiles even though they were soaking wet and the wind was terrible was astronomical.

“We’re already looking forward to next year.”
