Dozens of golfers teed off to help raise thousands of pounds for the Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice.
The charity held a fundraising golf day at the Swaffham Golf Club, which attracted more than 60 players in 16 teams.
And organisers say the total of £5,554 that was raised during the day was well beyond their expectations.
David Gulliver, the hospice’s fundraising committee chairman, said: “Our congratulations go to the winning golf team of the day, Team Tesco, and we would like to take this opportunity to give our sincere thanks to everyone who took part.”
The total included £1,000 from an auction held after the golf competition. One of the lots, a racing bike donated by one of the hospice’s patients, raised £200 alone.
Many businesses also gave sponsorship, auction lots and raffle prizes, including Barclays, Carscene of Norwich, Adrian Flux Insurance of East Winch, Su-Bridge of Saham Toney, Barefoot Retreat of Thornham and BSA Mouldings of Lynn.
Although the golf day was the hospice’s main fundraiser for this year, further events are being planned for the coming months.
A concert of choirs is scheduled to take place at the Assembly Rooms on Saturday, October 1, with a dance night on October 15.
A Christmas draw will also take place during November and December.
