The tea was fit for the Kings, as well as a Queen, as residents in Tilney St Lawrence raised more than £1,250 for charity at a tea party on Saturday afternoon.

The money raised is to be shared between the Alzheimers Society and Cancer Research.

Guests were encouraged to dress in suitably patriotic red, white and blue costumes for the celebration at the village hall.

And Maggie Butler, one of the organisers, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon.”

The party followed the success of a similar event held last year. Further fundraisers, including a beetle drive on July 30 and a bingo session later in the year are currently being planned.
