BREAKING NEWS - Family of boy visit tributes left at site of accident
FAMILY members gathered this evening at the site of last night’s accident to find a mounting pile of tributes of flowers, teddies and balloons left in memory of the three-year-old who died.
Around 15 adults and children from the family, some in buggies, gathered at the site in King Street from around 6pm, where the road had been blocked using police signs and cones.
Police confirmed they have still not officially named the boy.
Organisers of the Lynn Mart announced earlier today that they would hold a five-minute silence in memory of the lad when the funfair machines fell quiet and the music stopped.
The family members stood by the side of the road close to the tributes as the clock reached 6pm. One said: “I’m here because he was my nephew.”
Ironically, the stretch of road where the incident happened had been blocked off, but it’s not clear whether this was an official closure.
Few people were at the Mart to witness the silent tribute, a marked contrast to the previous night when the area was buzzing with hundreds of young people.
One bystander said: “It was actually quite eerie and a very strange atmosphere. I have never seen the Mart so empty of people.”
See the Lynn News on Friday for an interview with a man who held the little boy’s hand after the tragic incident.
