BREAKING NEWS - Petition to close roads around Lynn Mart goes viral

THE man who launched an online petition demanding wider road closures around the Lynn Mart following last night’s fatal accident has spoken of his shock at the number of people who have backed it.

Over 2,500 people have signed up since Joshua Yates, 19, from Reffley, Lynn, posted the petition online at 10pm last night.

Mr Yates said: “I have no connections to the family, but as soon as I heard about the accident I was devastated. I just kept thinking about how that could have been my little brother or sister.

“I felt very strongly about the petition and that the roads should be closed. It shouldn’t take a death to make that happen.

“I put the petition online at around 10pm and posted it on Facebook expecting to get around 100 signatures. The next thing I knew, I looked online and had over 1,000 signatures, and this was just an hour later.”

“I wasn’t prepared for it going viral but literally everyone has been signing it and has passed it on to their friends.

“It’s great that something good can come out of this horrible accident and that we can get something done while it is still fresh in people’s minds.”

The petition asks the West Norfolk Council to close of roads to all traffic surrounding the Mart.
