GAYTON: Driver, 70, seriously hurt in crash
An elderly man was seriously injured when his car was in collision with a lorry on Saturday morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on the B1153 between Gayton and East Walton at around 7.15am.
A police spokesman said yesterday that a red Volkswagen Golf had been in collision with a parked lorry.
The driver of the car, a 70-year-old man who is said to be local, had to be cut free from the wreckage by fire crews from Lynn and Great Massingham who were called to the scene.
The motorist was subsequently taken to hospital with serious head and spinal injuries.
Police say they are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw a number of heavy goods vehicles which were either parked or being loaded in the area prior to the crash.
Anyone with information should contact PC Keith Sainsbury of the roads policing unit based at Swaffham on the non-emergency 101 number.
