FOND tributes have been made by the family of a motorcyclist who died in a crash in Weasenham St Peter on Friday.

Robert Winner, 25, from Sporle, died as a result of his injuries from the collision on the A1065 between Swaffham and Fakenham.

After the crash, a black Volkswagen Bora stopped to help and the male driver sustained a leg injury when a silver Ford Mondeo collided with the wreckage.

The road was closed for four hours in the aftermath of the accidents.

Mr Winner’s family, father Mike, step-mother Sue, brother Michael and step-sister Claire said: “Robert will be very sadly missed by his family, friends and anyone who knew this much loved and likeable young man.”

The accident took place at the junction with Low Street at about 7am on Friday.

A grey Mitsubishi L200 was turning on to the A1065 towards Swaffham when it was in collision with the red-and-black Honda 125 motorcycle.

In a statement, the family said Mr Winner was a quiet, gentle and friendly young man who could be shy, until he got to know people.

“Always polite and he would do anything to help if he could.

“He was a hardworking lad who loved his job at Town and Country, where he worked with some very nice people who thought the world of him.”

A Manchester United supporter, Mr Winner enjoyed watching football and films, listening to music, woodwork and gardening.

He was also learning to drive and planned to take his car-driving test soon.

The statement concluded: “The family would like to thank all personnel involved in Robert’s care on that day, and a special thanks to the gentleman who was the first on the scene and tried to help Robert, we appreciate it very much.”

Witnesses should contact Senior Investigator Steve Matthews on 101.
