The family of a woman who died in a road accident over the Christmas break have paid tribute to her.

Irene Curran, who was 77 and from Snettisham, suffered fatal injuries in a three-vehicle collision on the B1440 Lynn Road, Ingoldisthorpe, last month.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Mrs Curran’s family remembered her as a much loved mother and grandmother who had made clothes for some of the country’s biggest stars before retiring to West Norfolk.

They said: “Originally from Italy, she came to England in the 1950s to start a new life and, though she always retained her Mediterranean personality, was fiercely proud of being a British citizen.

“She spent most of her working life in the heart of London’s fashion centre making made to measure shirts for the rich and famous including Sir Mick Jagger and Sir Cliff Richard before moving to Snettisham 14 years ago to pursue a more sedate life.

“Her untimely and tragic passing has left a huge hole in her family.

“Her two sons, daughter in law and two grandsons mourn her loss as does the community at large.”

An inquest into her death was opened and adjourned in Norwich on Wednesday.

The hearing was told that Mrs Curran, who was widowed, had died from multiple injuries consistent with a road accident.

Investigations into the cause of the accident, which happened at around 5pm on Sunday, December 30, are continuing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the roads policing unit at Swaffham on the non-emergency 101 number.
