It has been a cause of delay for months, but the new roundabout at the bottom of Redgate Hill on the A149 opened on Wednesday.

Work was completed three weeks ahead of schedule due to mild weather.

It has been built to serve a new housing development on the southern side of Hunstanton, where developer Hopkins Homes is building 160 new flats and houses on land off Heacham Road. Drivers have faced delays and overnight road closures since October but it is hoped that the roundabout will mean delays have become a thing of the past.

Manor Road, a bridleway which was used as a shortcut by some drivers while work went on, has also had its pot holes filled in atfter being branded “extremely dangerous” by residents in the Lynn News earlier last month. Resident Francis Marshall thanked those responsible for the gesture. mlnf17pm03094
