A three-day collection of food for the Hunstanton and District Foodbank at the town’s Sainsbury’s store yielded 16 trollies worth a total of £1,204 at the weekend.
Councillor Richard Bird paid tribute to the Sainsbury’s staff who facilitated the collection and the volunteers who manned the collection point.
He said: “Over 40 volunteers completed one-hour shifts handing out literature and accepting donations from the public and we could not have managed without their help.
“Sadly there is food poverty right on our doorstep and we have been very busy at the Foodbank over recent weeks and Hunstanton shoppers have once again demonstrated how caring and generous they are.”
