A man whose body was found in a river at Downham on Monday has now been identified, police have announced.
Earlier today, detectives issued a description of the man, whose remains were discovered near the Hythe Bridge on Monday morning in a bid to establish who he was.
But, a short time ago, police confirmed the man’s identity had been established following a call from a member of the public.
Although his name has not been released, officers say he was a 79-year local man.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
