A campaign to build a new village sports centre has been set on the right course by a team of police cadets.

Eight members of the Lynn group, pictured above, completed a cross-Channel rowing challenge in support of the project in Dersingham on Thursday afternoon.

The team covered the distance from Britain to France on a rowing machine set up in the foyer of the Tesco store on the Hardwick estate. Around £100 was raised.

Group leader Sgt Daniel Edwards said: “We wanted a good local cause to help and support.”

As well as the fundraising effort, shoppers also had the chance to seek crime prevention advice from officers and find out more about becoming a special constable themselves.

The police cadets group meets at Lynn’s police station on Thursday evenings, between 6 and 8pm, and is open to young people aged between 13 and 17.
