Post Office officials have announced plans to resume an outreach service in Wolferton, though it will operate for fewer hours than before.
A public consultation has been launched on the proposal to re-start the service at the village’s social club, which was halted in September last year following the retirement of the postmaster.
The company says a postmaster based in East Rudham has been nominated to take over the service.
But, instead of operating for four hours on a Friday from 9am to 1pm, the service will only run from 9am to 11.30am each week if the plan is implemented.
However, Wendy Hamilton, field change advisor for the Post Office, said: “We understand the importance of having a Post Office in Wolferton.
“The Hosted Outreach service presents the best possible solution in this area.”
Consultations on the proposal will run until December 8.
The Post Office says it may run a temporary service in the meantime, but that will not affect the outcome of the consultation.
