Voters are going to the polls today to choose a new member of West Norfolk Council.

A by-election is taking place in the Valley Hill ward, which covers the parishes of Anmer, Congham, Flitcham, Great and Little Massingham and Sandringham.

The by-election was called following the death of former council leader and borough mayor Mike Tilbury in April, aged 80.

A total of five candidates have been nominated to contest the seat.

They are Andrew John Carr (UKIP), Michael de Whalley (Green Party), Edward William Robb (Labour), Kate Sayer (Liberal Democrats) and Tim Tilbrook (Conservatives).

Polling stations in Flitcham, Great Massingham, Hillington and West Newton will remain open until 10pm this evening.

The votes will then be counted at the borough council’s headquarters in Lynn tomorrow morning.
