Campbells Tower Landing King's Lynn clip from you Tube

THIS breathtaking film shows what happened when a paramotor pilot decided to land on one of the most iconic landmarks in Lynn.

The film is a bird’s eye view of the landing on Campbell’s Tower, and includes spectacular shots of the area around the tower and other parts of Lynn including the river.

The pilot inadvertently caused The Spirit of West Norfolk lifeboat to be launched after reports of “a paraglider spiralling towards the River Ouse in Lynn”.

The police, Huntanton hovercraft and Yarmouth coastguard all searched the port area after the report at around 10.20am but no-one was found.

In fact, the pilot was deliberately aiming for the iconic tower which, one of Lynn’s best-known landmarks, is due to be brought down in a controlled explosion to make way for Tesco’s £40m redevelopment of its store and adjoining site in Hardwick Road.

The Lynn News is asking for nominations as it wants a reader to press the button that brings it down.

Demolition is due in January and nominations - which should be sent to mike.last@lynnnews.co.uk - will close at the end of the year.
