West Acre cue girl Rochy dominates Narbeck junior finals

The Narbeck Junior Billiards League held its 17th annual presentations and KO Day which was hosted by the Maltings Q Club, Lynn.

National girls champion Rochy Woods (West Acre) dominated the day, retaining the Girls Championship where in the final she defeated Raelene Yule (Narborough), but also winning the prestigious Open Championship, which this year was played over 30 minute ‘scratch’ matches.

Woods defeated Bruce Welham in the Open semi-final and Jack Easter (17, West Acre) in the final to claim the best win of her career to date. Easter had a notable win beating the improving county player Alex Ward in the semi-finals, while Welham gained some consolation by claiming the highest break with a 45.

Easter, runner-up in this year’s National under 19s Championship, retained the league’s U19s Championship, beating Mark Still (12, Narborough) in the final, which was kindly refereed by Mark Tims. Earlier Still beat Woods in the quarter-finals to claim the best win of his career.

Still also retained his age group title (the U14s) defeating another Narborough player Liam Exley (11) in a very close final, and a closely contested Championship.

As a new venture the league ran a 6 Reds Snooker Championship, which was won by Nathan Boughen (14, West Lynn).

Thanks to the Staff of the Maltings, to Mrs Jean Carter and Mrs Sue Wilson who kindly ran the NJBL annual fundraising raffle, and to Mr Philip Carter, chairman of the league who made the presentation of trophies and awards.
