West Norfolk AC duo Lucy Koenigsberger and Abi Rice helped Norfolk claim the runners-up spot at the UK National Sportshall Finals in Manchester last weekend.

Captain Koenigsberger led out the U13 Girls team, carrying the Norfolk banner at the opening ceremony. Norfolk had qualified as best runners-up from all the regional competitions. They came second to Surrey, and beat the East’s regional winners Hertfordshire, by two places.

Both girls pulled out personal best performances in their field events, Koenigsberger coming 4th in the shot (10m 59) and Rice taking 8th in the vertical jump (56cms).

There were medals all round for the girls in the relays with Koenigsberger winning a bronze in the Obstacle Relay time trial, and both girls taking bronze in the 4 x 1 lap relay final, and they narrowly missed the silver.

Helen Stubbs, chair of Norfolk Sportshall League, said: “All of the Norfolk athletes should be really proud of their performances.”
