Officials of West Norfolk brain tumour research charity Red Wellies have been left all shook up by the proceeds raised by an Elvis charity concert.

Derek Russell, in his guise as the singer, presented a cheque for more than £600 to Mervyn Wiles, father of Lisa Wiles, in whose memory the charity was set up, on Thursday.

The donation is one of several in recent weeks which have boosted the charity’s funds by more than £5,000 in total.

They include £1,400 raised by cyclist James Barnes and £1,000 each from the Morris Minor Owners’ Club, the Norwich Sci-Fi Club and the Norfolk Caravan Club.

A further £250 has been donated by the Showman’s Guild of Great Britain, plus £50 from Ray Smith, with other contributions including collections at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Thorpe St Andrew School and Highway Garden and Leisure in Norwich, plus a raffle by the Sandringham Ladies Darts Club.

The charity thanks all its supporters for their donations. MLNF15MF0412
