Plans to introduce more free parking spaces in Lynn and Hunstanton are to be implemented after a challenge to the scheme was rejected.
West Norfolk Council leaders announced plans to offer more spaces allowing motorists to park free for 20 minutes in September. But a group of opposition councillors, led by Fairstead representative Ian Gourlay, called for the authority’s cabinet scrutiny committee to look at the decision again.
They claimed the scheme did not take the existing parking promotions plan into account and had not been discussed with transport groups.
But the council’s ruling cabinet were told that the challenge had not been upheld on Tuesday.
It heard the plan to introduce the new spaces in the Baker Lane and Austin Street car parks in Lynn and the Valentine Road site in Hunstanton is now being implemented.
