The Mayor’s Awards for Outstanding Business Achievement are now 25 years old and still as popular and prestigious as ever.

There are nine categories to be contested this time, all of them aiming to reward business enterprise and excellence, skill and endeavour across the whole range.

Organised by the Lynn News in partnership with West Norfolk Borough Council, the 2014 awards recognise the diverse business and entrepreneurial talent the area has to offer and gives you a chance to highlight what is great about the business you own, work for or love.

And they are extra special because so many different businesses stand a chance of being among the winners - from a start-up operation to a major employer. And there are also categories for individuals to shine.

Top accolade is the Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Business Achievement; and a new one this time is the Lynn News Good Taste Award which is launched in today’s Business Today.Other categories, with their sponsors, are :

n Apprentice/Trainee of the Year (Adrian Flux Insurance)

n Customer Care (Norfolk Chamber of Commerce)

n Community Contribution (Norfolk Training Services)

n Independent Retailer of the Year (Mapus-Smith and Lemmon)

n Leisure and Tourism

n Small Growing Business (Roomfoss)

n Business Person of the Year (Brown and Co)

Anyone can make a nomination and it can all be done online at www.lynnnews.co.uk. Just hit the Business Awards tab on the home page.

Each of the awards will be featured in forthcoming issues of the Lynn News and the closing date for nominations is November 28.

Shortlisted candidates will be judged by representatives from the sponsors during December and January.

The winners will be announced at a a glittering finals night ceremony at Lynn Corn Exchange on Friday, March 6.

Launching the awards, the Mayor of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk councillor, Barry Ayres said: “With the economy turning a corner, I’m delighted we are able to recognise the shining examples of business talent in West Norfolk.

“We see success stories every week in our area and now it is time to reward that expertise and talent.”
