Environment secretary and South West Norfolk MP Elizabeth Truss has praised Britain’s juice makers after record exports.
Overseas sales of British-made fruit and vegetable juice products were worth £65 million to the UK economy in 2014, with apple and orange juices accounting for more than half of the total.
Demand has grown by 40 per cent in the last five years, and Ms Truss has paid tribute to producers.
She said: “It’s testament to the can-do attitude of UK juicers that they’re selling orange juice to America and Spain, countries famed for their orange production, though given we’re selling ice to Sweden and cheese to France it shouldn’t come as a surprise.
“This demand is fantastic news for our growing economy - with 96 countries worldwide now enjoying our juices there’s potential for industry to drive sales even further.”
