A campaign group which lobbies for improved rail services to and from West Norfolk has elected a new vice-chairman.
Andy Gibbs, who commutes daily from Downham to London by rail, took up the role with the Fen Line Users Association (FLUA) on Saturday, succeeding Robert Stripe, who had been made honorary president.
Mr Gibbs said: “I’m honoured to become vice-chairman of this active and influential organisation. It’s an exciting time of massive growth on the Fen Line.”
Mr Stripe, who has served the association since it was established more than 30 years ago, said he was “surprised and honoured” by his new role.
He said: “When I joined there were five trains from King’s Lynn to London each day, now there are five times that number and there are to be more still.
“They’re desperately needed as passenger numbers on the Fen Line are increasing dramatically.”
A rail summit will be held in Downham later this month in order to examine future service growth.
