Youngsters went caterpillar crazy on Tuesday during a Giant Wiggle sponsored walk in aid of the Action for Children charity.
Children fed a small and giant caterpillar on their way around Reffley Wood by collecting 100 different foods from the book which was hidden along the route.
Tesco Hardwick provided caterpillar fruit for everyone, while each child, who made a caterpillar headband to wear on their arrival, received a certificate and sticker for taking part.
The walk was organised by the Under 5s Out and About group.
Under 5s Out and About group leader Amy Ranger said: “My daughter and myself love getting outside and exploring, so I set up this group to encourage more children and their parents to do the same.
“I hope by teaching the young children about the woodland, what creatures live there and the importance of looking after our local woodlands they will grow up to respect our beautiful woods.
“I would like to thank Laura from Tesco, Jo from The Preschool Learning Alliance and Kayleigh from the Vancouver Children’s Centre for their help on the day.
“I’d also like to thank The Woodland Trust for allowing me to continue to use Reffley Wood, its a fantastic varied venue to explore.
“It is fantastic to see so many children, parents and grandparents in the woods getting outside and exploring this hidden gem in our local community.”
More than 25 people took part and the group hope to raise £50 for the charity.
Action for Children is a leading children’s charity that exists in the heart of communities in the UK to be there for some of the most vulnerable and neglected children now, tomorrow and every day.
Under 5s Out and About is a local parent-led volunteer community group in King’s Lynn for parent or carers with children aged five and under.
They meet regularly on the first Tuesday of every month between 10.30 and 11.45am at Reffley Wood, where they do various creative activities and have lots of fun outdoors.
The group’s next outing is Tuesday, May 3, when they are going on a Bug Hunt and making bug houses to take home.
