Officials at Westacre Theatre are jubilant with the news that the venue has been chosen to join Connections 500 – the National Theatre’s nationwide youth theatre festival.
It means the young people at Westacre Theatre will be the only group in West Norfolk to be on board.
Sadie Grist, a director of Westacre Theatre, said: “They will have the unique opportunity to stage a new play written especially for them and link-up with 10,000 other talented young actors across the UK to perform in a leading theatre away from their home venue.
“Before the end of September, National Theatre will publish the name of the play which will be performed by Westacre. So watch this space.”
She added: “In the meantime, young people who love performing are rushing to sign-up to this autumn’s workshops at Westacre who welcome participants from age six to 18.
“Workshops are held weekly and on the October half-term and the youngsters automatically enrol in the YO! West theatre company. So as well as having an amazing time and learning a huge amount, they have the chance of free tickets to some top-class Westacre events such as live screenings from the National Theatre.
“And it is the teenagers in those workshops who will have the wonderful chance of being part of the powerful Connections 500 project.”
